The Aurea Contour works on a principle of concealment. The source is invisible; only its effect remains, a full perimeter glow that illuminates the wall around the shell rather than projecting forward from it. The result is something closer to an object lit from within a museum than to a conventional wall light. It hangs on the wall the way a collected artwork does, with the added quality of being alive after dark.
The shell form is cast in matte plaster, deliberately raw, deliberately tactile, with ridges that catch shadow and give the piece depth even in daylight. Unpainted, it reads as warm white against most wall colours. Painted to match the wall, it dissolves into the surface and the halo becomes everything, a warm perimeter of light with no visible origin.
The small sits on a wall the way a considered object sits on a shelf, precisely, with intention.
