Three glass capsules stacked on a matte black frame, each one luminous, each one separated from the next by a dark ring that holds the composition together without concealing it. At the crown, an open bowl that gathers and releases light upward. The Valren Column is not a floor lamp, it is a column of light that happens to stand on the floor.

The internal structure is the Valren's most considered detail. The matte black rod and frame that runs through the centre of each glass capsule is entirely visible, not hidden, not minimised, but present as a design element that gives the transparent glass a precision and intentionality it could not achieve by itself. The capsules glow around it. The frame reads through them. The composition of glass and black structure is the same principle as a fine instrument, every component visible, every component necessary.

At the crown, an open hemispherical bowl receives the light from below and releases it upward and outward, a gentle uplight that warms the ceiling and the upper walls in a way that no downward-facing floor lamp can achieve. The effect is of a space illuminated from multiple heights simultaneously: the capsule column lighting the mid-room, the bowl lighting the ceiling above, the base casting a warm glow at floor level.

At 118cm the Valren is the most compact floor light in the range, lower than the others, more intimate, functioning as much as a sculptural object as a light source. Placed beside a reading chair, at the end of a bed, or in a corner where a conventional floor lamp would feel too tall and a table lamp too small, it occupies exactly the space that nothing else in the range or most ranges addresses.
