Late sun does something specific to a chair built on angles, it catches the wood along one edge and leaves the rest in shadow, turning the frame into something closer to a sketch than a structure. A single arm sweeps across in one unbroken line, walnut shaped into a wishbone that holds the seat without boxing it in. Beneath it, suede gathers into a diamond quilt, soft where the wood is hard, grey where the wood runs dark. In Jodhpur, hands carved that walnut, the curve and cross-brace shaped from a single idea rather than assembled from parts. Against a terrazzo floor or beneath floor-length linen curtains, its angled silhouette holds the eye the way sculpture would, asking to be walked around rather than simply sat in.
