Some shapes refuse the corner altogether. This one does, every line on it curves, settles, rounds away from anything sharp, taking its time to get where it's going. A single arm rises and folds back into the seat like one continuous gesture, the bouclé looped tightly enough to hold its own shadow in every dip and ridge. It was textured by hand in the workshops of Jodhpur, the kind of surface that looks different depending on how the afternoon light falls across it. Underneath, a plinth of solid wood runs the full length, visible and unadorned, the one straight line the piece allows itself. Designers will read it as mass rather than furniture, a shape to be placed, not arranged around. It belongs in a room with little else competing for attention: a Hampstead bay window, perhaps, or a Chelsea garden room where the only other thing moving is the light.
