Some pieces hold their shape no matter how the light around them shifts, this is one of those, every line kept straight, every corner left to hold rather than soften. Velvet stretches taut across the frame like a second skin, diamond tufting deepening the back into shadow while the arms run in plain, unbroken channels. Walnut legs rise straight up into the body, notched into the velvet itself rather than bolted beneath it, leaving a clean gap of bare wood at each corner. In Jodhpur, hands stitched that velvet button by button, then fitted the frame so timber and fabric met without a single visible seam. Against a concrete wall or beneath a run of gallery track lighting, its squared silhouette holds the room's geometry rather than softening it. Settled into a Chelsea study, or the corner of a hotel bar at dusk, this is the chair that grows warmer as the light outside fades to nothing.
