Pendle Hill's heather burns in patches by design, each scorched section left to recover at its own pace, so the hillside reads as scattered black marks against grey-brown ground rather than any single continuous scar. This rug carries that same scattered logic: a deep charcoal field marked by irregular horizontal strokes in black, cream, and faint amber, no two clusters quite matching in length or spacing, the marks reading as aftermath rather than decoration. Hand-tufted by the weavers of Jaipur, the wool lifts each mark in flat colour against the tonal ground, the contrast carried entirely through colour rather than pile height. Beneath a Georgian cornice or bare concrete, the restraint reads as considered rather than empty. In a Mayfair study, it brings that same patient, managed burning indoors.
