Before the oak lid is placed, Drumlin is already complete. Its cylindrical body is cast in terrazzo , grey aggregate speckled with the quiet complexity of a material that reveals more the longer it is looked at , and its proportion is the proportion of something that has always occupied exactly this amount of space: neither too much nor too little, simply right. The warm oak lid arrives as the table's final note: a circle of honey-grained wood that settles onto the stone body with the naturalness of two materials that have always understood each other. At 45 centimeters across, Drumlin sits beside a sofa the way a good companion sits in a room , present, useful, and entirely without demand.
