Cooper is named for the craftsman who bends wood into cylinders and bands them with metal , because this table is, in its deepest nature, exactly that tradition made contemporary. The carved wooden body carries a deeply textured surface of wave-carved channels around its circumference, each one a shadow that the light redraws through the day. Around its middle, a hammered copper band fitted with a ring detail , the barrel hoop of the cooper's tradition, here made decorative and entirely honest about what it references. The darker toned wood and the warm copper exist in a conversation that is as old as craft itself: the carpenter and the metalworker, making one thing together that neither could make alone. At 30 centimeters across, Cooper is a side table of genuine character , the kind that a room earns rather than simply acquires.
