There is a technique in stonework called book-matching , the opening of a slab of marble along its grain to reveal the mirror-image veining within, like the pages of a book opened to its most extraordinary passage. The Codex side table is built upon that technique. Butterscotch marble panels, their veining mirrored in perfect geological symmetry, form the base of a square-topped side table of considerable architectural presence. The warm honey and cream tones of the marble carry fine darker veining in a surface that rewards every angle of approach. Place it where a room is ready for a piece that carries, within its grain, the entire story of the stone.
